Our Fleet

Down Under Helicopters boasts the most modern and well appointed fleet in Tropical North Queensland. Executive fit-outs, air conditioning and an in-flight audio entertainment system are just some of the features exhibited by our extensive fleet. Additionally, our Squirrel is equipped for in-flight filming, which serves as a great souvenir for clients of whom wish to remember a truly memorable experience.

Robinson 22

At any one time Down Under Helicopters has a couple of Robinson 22 helicopters comprising part of its fleet. The Robinson 22 helicopter has a piston engine, which enables it to travel at speeds of up to 100 knots. These particular machines seat one passenger other than the pilot, and have a primary use in our Cairns Helicopter School. Additionally, these helicopters are used for single passenger scenic flights as well as our ‘You-Fly’ product, where you are actually able to fly the helicopter yourself!

Robinson 44

Down Under Helicopters currently has two Robinson 44 helicopters within its fleet. The Robinson 44 seats three passengers aside from the pilot, allowing each passenger a window seat for the best view. Not unlike the Robinson 22, these machines are powered by a piston engine, which allows the helicopter to travel at speeds of up to 105 knots. Our Robinson 44’s are both brand new, and exhibit pristine interiors – allowing for the ultimate in luxury travel.

Bell 206 Jetranger

The larger part of our fleet is made up of three Bell 206 Jetranger helicopters. These machines each seat four passengers other than the pilot. Being a larger helicopter, these machines are powered by turbine engines, allowing them to travel at speeds of up to 90 knots. Each of our Jetrangers exhibit a corporate fit-out, enabling our passengers to travel in style and comfort.

AS350 Squirrel

Down Under Helicopters currently has one AS350 Squirrel within its fleet. This helicopter seats six passengers other than the pilot, and offers the ultimate in helicopter travel. Exhibiting a turbine engine, the Squirrel is able to travel at speeds of up to 120 knots. This helicopter is the only machine in Far North Queensland offering a fully air-conditioned cabin, complete with an in-flight stereo system and executive fit-out. Additionally, the Squirrel is equipped with a multi-camera in-flight filming function, enabling passengers to take away with them a memento of their heli experience.
